HBO will kick off 2012 with a January 28 Boxing After Dark featuring Erik Morales defending his WBC junior welterweight title against undefeated Danny Garcia, and James Kirkland facing Carlos Molina.
Morales won the title on September 17 against Pablo Cesar Cano, making him one of the few fighters to win a major title in four different weight classes.. James Kirkland re-established his name in the junior-middleweight division with a thrilling brawl and sixth round TKO over Alfredo Angulo on November 5.
Danny Garcia maintained his undefeated record with a split decision win over Kendall Holt on October 15. The win made him the #2 contender for Morales’ WBC and Lamont Peterson’s newly won IBF belt. Carlos Molina’s last fight was a dominant decision win over Kermit Cintron on July 9.
The card will take place at Houston, Texas at the Reliant Arena. Tickets go on sale this Saturday (December 17) through www.ticketmaster.com and will be priced from $25-$250. The doubleheader will air at 9:45 p.m. ET/PT.
