Antonio Margarito on Cotto Rematch: “I need to win this fight to clear my name…”

Again, we see Margarito clad in dark shades. Another telling sign on the condition of that reconstructed right eye?

  1. I’m pretty sure I saw Marg in big dark shades before the Pacquiao fight. Either way, I don’t think it’s really for Margarito to decide if he’s found redemption. As a loyal boxing fan who loved his first performance against Cotto before I knew about the handwraps, I don’t think he’s redeemed just because he beats Cotto this time. The specifics of that fight made everybody suspicious about how the result was achieved even before the Mosley fight. Why did Cotto’s face suddenly collapse? Even on the off chance that his wraps were clean for that fight, win or lose December 3rd, Margarito’s just a cheater. He’s an accomplished athlete and formidable boxer, I won’t deny it. That makes his conduct even worse. I hope his eye does fall apart during the fight, a life long injury would be a fitting punishment for the effects other fighters would have, or did, incur due to his manipulation of the rules.
