It’s always better to honor legends when they’re still here to see it. The Godfather of Soul departed a few years ago, but music fans can still pay homage to the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin. Black Star will do just that on Black Star Aretha, their tribute mixtape. The first leak, “You Already Knew,” has producer Oh No supplying the duo with a nice beat marked by its layered soul arrangements and vocal sample. Lyrically, Black Star continues to uphold their reputation for lyrical excellence. No word yet on when the mixtape will drop.
