Nicki’s dream look must have come to her after watching a lot of 80s movies. Anyone pushing 30 or older will recall the 80s fashion nods when looking at Nicki Minaj’s fashion ensemble from New York’s Fashion Week. The skirt over the colorful leggings and exaggerated hair bow recalls Madonna’s early years, as does Minaj’s use of multiple bracelets (although the bracelets look has predecessors as early as the 1940s in Brazilian actress/singer Carmen Miranda). The only thing missing was some legwarmers. The second outfit keeps most of the 80s punk look but adds a quirky bubble-top vest. The more styles change, the more they seem to just recall the past.
