Reformed convict, champion, legend and now Prada model?! The last title is the latest reinvention for light-heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins, who has signed on with Prada for an international eyewear campaign.
Hopkins was one of three boxers (Amir Khan and Roberto Cammarelle) recruited by Prada for their “Linea Rossa” eyewear collection, which uses the Sweet Science as its inspiration for the Prada Upper Cut, Prada Jab and Prada Barnburner styles. The company chose the athletes based on what they deemed the best mix of “strong personalities,” “sporting talent” and “determination.”
“I am thrilled to be a part of this campaign,” Hopkins told Beats, Boxing & Mayhem. “Prada is known throughout the world as a top luxury brand and as a world champion, it is great to represent the sport in ads that will be seen around the globe. People are already familiar with the way I work my upper cut and jab in the ring, now they can see me wearing them in my Prada ads.”
International ads will begin running this month.
