“I want to prove to people I’m Hall of Fame material…”
Devon Alexander has a lot riding this Saturday (June 25) when he faces Lucas Matthysse. Alexander has virtually lost all credibility with many fans who felt he quit in January during the biggest fight of his career against Timothy Bradley. Alexander doesn’t dwell much on that embarrassing loss; here he vows that starting Saturday he’ll prove to everyone that he’s Hall of Fame material and the best junior welterweight. Regarding Matthysse, Alexander’s trainer Kevin Cunningham calls him the biggest puncher in the division.
From my vantage point, Devon is facing a much better version of Juan Urango, a man he KO’d impressively a few years back. We’ll see if he’s learned from the Andriy Kotelnik and Timothy Bradley missteps how to handle consistent pressure.
