Kassim Ouma Hospitalized After TKO Loss to Gennady Golovkin [VIDEO]

Former world champion Kassium Ouma (27-8-1, 17 KOs) spent last weekend in a local hospital after ringside physician Jeff Davidson feared brain bleeding following his 10th round TKO loss to Gennady Golovkin (21-0, 18 KOs).

PANAMA CITY, PANAMA — Former world champion Kassium Ouma (27-8-1, 17 KOs) spent last weekend in a local hospital after ringside physician Jeff Davidson feared brain bleeding following his 10th round TKO loss to Gennady Golovkin (21-0, 18 KOs).

After a decent start by Ouma, Golovkin began wearing Ouma down inside with his superious strength and a constant barrage of hooks and uppercuts. By the late rounds, both of Ouma’s eyes were badly swollen. A succession of rights nearly dropped Ouma in the 10th. Trapped against the ropes, the Ugandan fighter was strafed wioh several more straight rights before the referee stopped the bout with 1:04 remaining. Upon examining Ouma, Davidson ordered a complete nuerological examinationafter seeing signs that Ouma had suffered brain bleeding.

Ouma’s career has been in decline since moving up to 160 pounds in 2006 to face Jermain Taylor for the middleweight title. Since that bout, Ouma has gone 2-5.

At press time, the results are of Ouma’s tests have not been disclosed.
