FAIRFIELD, CA — Antonio Escalante (24-4, 15 KOs) has some serious soul-searching to do following his second consecutive knockout loss this past Friday (March 25) on Telefutura Solo Boxeo.
Alejandro Perez (15-2-1, 10 KOs) was swinging for the fences and did good work to the body throughout the round. Escalante attempted a short left hook on the inside which Perez countered beautifully with a compact right hook. Escalante fell flat on his back. He was clearly out of it even as he tried to protest and pull away from the referee.
Before this fight, Escalante was on the receiving end of Daniel Ponce de Leon’s heavy hands before he was bombed out in the 3rd round. Escalante is still a young guy at 25, but he needs extended time out of the ring. Coming back after six months appears to have been too soon.
