Freeway is one of the few former Roc-a-fella artists that’s been able hold his own away from Jay-Z’s aura. His music talent aside, Freeway credits his faith as a Sunni Muslim for his resolve and the maturation of his music. While Free was a Muslim when he came in the game, it was not something he stressed publicly. In recent times that’s changed. Just last year, he took cameras with him when he made the Hajj, the spiritual pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia that’s required of all Muslims once in their lifetimes if financially possible.
