“He’s a brawler who takes chances…”
Showtime has dropped a quick video spot for Juan Manuel Lopez’s upcoming WBO title defense against Orlando Salido on April 16. I like how they’re not ignoring Lopez’s flaws and detailing how the young titlist could get himself involved in another brawl. Salido gave Yuriorkis Gamboa a competitive fight last year, and I feel he’ll do the same with Lopez in another losing effort. The below clip focused on Lopez’s brawling tendencies, but JuanMa is a superb boxer-puncher when he wants to be, and that’ll carry him through next month.

SAN JUAN, P.R. (January 16, 2012) – World Boxing Organization (WBO) featherweight champion ORLANDO “Siri” SALIDO (37-11-2, 25 KOs), from Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, México, and former WBO featherweight champion JUAN MANUEL “Juanma” LOPEZ (31-1, 28 KOs), from Caguas, Puerto Rico, will host a news conference Tomorrow! Tuesday, January 17, to announce their World Featherweight Championship rematch. The news conference will take place in San Juan, Puerto Rico at the Museo de Vida Silvestre (1075 Marginal Ave. Kennedy, San Juan, P.R. 00926), beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Lopez-Salido II will take place Saturday, March 10 and will be televised live from Roberto Clemente Coliseum in San Juan, P.R. on SHOWTIME Championship Boxing®, beginning at 10 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast.) If the rematch is anything like their first rumble, more than palm trees will be swaying when these two warriors start throwing. The SHOWTIME telecast will open with undefeated No. 1 featherweight contender MIKEY GARCIA (27-0, 23 KOs), from Oxnard, Calif., risking record and rating as well as his impending world title shot in a 10-round featherweight battle.
