A modest crowd was on hand for the weigh-in earlier today between Miguel Cotto (35-2, 28 KOs) and Ricardo Mayorga (29-7, 23 KOs). El Matador made his way to the podium first through boos from the Puerto Rican faithful. Looking very trim and without the extra bulk he’s sported in recent bouts, Mayorga tipped the scales at 154 pounds. Cotto also weighed 154 pounds and looked to be in excellent shape. Keeping with his actions from earlier in the week, Cotto declined to pose for a faceoff and quickly left. Mayorga got on the mic and called Cotto a coward. Arum and King also did their best to create a combative environment. Arum teasingly referred to King as a “phony” for trying to play up to the Puerto Rican fans. Tomorrow night’s Showtime PPV will be for Cotto’s WBA junior middleweight title.
