When I see Mike Tyson now, I can’t help but be amazed by the transformations celebrities make regarding public perception over the course of their careers. Tyson has gone from loved, to hated, to now this weird space of lovable sympathy.
Make no mistake, boxing fans for the most part have never stopped having love for Iron Mike. But in his retirement, the things that repulsed people before (temper, unstable) are now seen as humorous. It’s just another example that with time, nearly everyone can be repackaged media-wise.
For this video, Mike Tyson sits down with respected film critic Leonard Maltin to review this year’s Oscar nominations. That alone should be enough said regarding the potential comedy. Maltin’s slightly disturbed face helps get the skit over. I was waiting for Mike to tell Maltin he was going to eat his children.
