Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin (23-0, 17 KOs) kept his unbeaten record intact with a thorough beating of Dennis Sharpe (17-6-3, 4 KOs) last night (February 11) in Fairfield, California.
Sharpe began the fight with a tight, high guard, causing Quillin to focus many of his early power shots to the body. After just a few blows, Sharpe’s hands began to lower. By the end of round one, Sharp’s face was already swelling.
In rounds two and three, Sharpe was rendered helpless by Quillin’s superior speed. Nearly every Sharpe attempt on offense was counted by 3-4 punch combinations from Kid Chocolate. When Sharpe attempted to move, Quillin was easily able to corner him and score with more clean power shots, and drew blood at the end of the third.
The fourth round saw Quillin close matters with a devastating array of hooks and uppercuts. Sharpe remained upright, but sagged into the ropes in capitulation as the referee called a halt to matters. Sharpe has now lost his last six fights with three coming by KO. This was his first bout since losing an eight round decision to Ronald Hearns in 2007.
In the co-main event, Alan Sanchez (7-2-1, 2 KOs) cruised to an eight round, unanimous decision win over previously undefeated John Grimaldo (6-1, 5 KOs). Scores were 80-70, 78-72 and 79-72. And Manuel Avila (2-0, 1 KO) took a four round decision over Jose Gracia (0-3).

Haha nah this guy is still a prospect. He has a lot to live up to claiming that nickname, though.
