Nonito Donaire’s Montiel Media Workout

"He's strong and experienced. But that's 2010, this is 2011," Donaire quipped about Montiel's 2010 knockout record.

Nonito Donaire has the biggest fight of his career coming up next Saturday (February 19) when he faces Fernando Montiel on HBO for the WBC and WBO bantamweight titles. Last Friday, he granted media the chance to sit on a workout session. When asked about how dangerous Montiel is, Donaire had this to say.

“He’s strong and experienced. But that’s 2010, this is 2011,” Donaire quipped about Montiel’s 2010 knockout record.

If you’ve seen Donaire’s recent fights, you’ve likely noticed he’s been a lot more offensive-midned. In his last six fights, he’s scored five knockouts. Can he be that aggressive against Montiel? We’ll see next weekend. I’m interviewing Nonito in a few hours, so be on the lookout for that interview later tonight.
