Unexpected collaborations can turn out bad or surprisingly good. Count this joint with Blu, Freddie Gibbs and Homeboy Sandman amongst the latter. What you’ll notice first is the pulsing, funky beat, dubbed in the song’s tags as progressive New York soul. It’s steady, hard drums and snares call for a quickened pace, which each emcee glady obliges. Gibbs is sandwiched in the middle, but stands out the most because of his flow. It’s one of those instances where he rides it so well, he in a sense becomes one with the beat, and his actual words become secondary.
