The Pittsburgh Steeler’s Super Bowl berth appears to have had a positive effect on the success of Wiz Khalifa’s already platinum single “Black and Yellow,” raising the song to #3 on this week’s Billboard Top 100 chart.
Released back in September 2010, the song was adopted in Khalifa’s native Pittsburgh by the Steelers, who enlisted the rapper to perform it before their AFC championship game against the New York Jets last week.
Khalifa hopes to capitalize on the song’s success with his first major label release for Atlantic Records, Rolling Papers, on March 29. A promotional video for the project, the Too $hort-featuring “On My Level,” is expected to be released later today.
At press time, “Black and Yellow” is still the #1 ringtone in the country.
