Hot 107.9 personality ET cleared up a anti-payola video going in at Young Jeezy, clarifying that the clip was highly edited and two years old.
ET explained that the video originated at the Mariachi club, where he was doing an open mic entitled “Battle Ground Mondays.” His anger was due to being approached by multiple artists with payola offers to get on the radio and in his open mic event. ET referenced Jeezy as someone who tried payola when he first started out, but moved on from after learning business ethics, and meeting with 107.9 execs.
In hindsight, ET thinks the example wasn’t the best, and issued an apology despite the video being edited. ET also did not have any idea of who may have doctored the video. He emphasized that no one at Hot 107.9 is involved in any payola schemes.
“I don’t want your money, I want your hustle,” ET said. “If you got a buzz in the streets, bring it to Hot 107.9. We don’t take money over here.”
Young Jeezy has not commented on the matter. ET is one half of radio team “Durrty Boyz” with J-Nicks. The duo can be heard daily from 6 PM-10 PM.
