Raekwon “Butter Knives”

It must be said, Wu-Tang members come up with the best songs titles in Hip-Hop. Raekwon is still in his mid 90’s form that was so well executed on last year’s Cuban Linx II. This joint is off Rae’s upcoming Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang album. And if this is any indicator of the album’s production, long-time Wu fans should be extremely happy. The hallowed out, distorted sound of the orchestra sample loop lends the song a triumphant feel. On the lyric tip, Rae spends his verses detailing the pitfalls and dangers of the life in the streets (“Going down/Only in the town/You’re heart get tested/ A gunplay is only an investment…”). Over the summer, Rae had talked to Eminem about making an appearance. Can Raekwon drop two Album of the Years in a three-year span? We’ll find out in early 2011. Rae’s run is amazing considering he was dormant on the album tip for well over a decade.
