Lupe Fiasco “The Runaway: Lupe’s Revenge”
Lasers may be banished indefinitely by Atlantic Records to album release purgatory, but that hasn’t stopped Lupe Fiasco from getting music out there to the fans. Building on recent work like his freestyle interpretation of Rick Ross’ “B.M.F.,” Lupe has now teamed up with British band Unkle for the song “The Runaway: Lupe’s Revenge.”
Unkle was classified as Trip-Hop collective early in their career, and that electronic-heavy sound is evident in the arrangements of this composition. Lupe, who’s almost always in sharp form lyrically, delivers the striking imagery and allusions to match the cosmic feel of the beat.
“Oh I might bless you with my curses/Thinner!/You should change your attitude to Hannibal that’s having you for dinner,” Fiasco spit. “Cannibalistic urges/Eating up this nonsense/Regurgitating purpose/In a world imperfect/Am I mind so spotless/Like they spic ‘n spanned and mopped it…”
The song will be a part of Unkle’s The Answer EP, being available in America only through their online store and Amazon on September 28. UK fans are able to get their hands on it tomorrow (September 13).
