RZA Wants to Co-Executive Produce New Nas Album with Kanye West

"If that happens it will be real fun because I think Nas is definitely one of the best emcees to ever touch the mic. I would love to hear Nas on at least five RZA beats," RZA disclosed. "We did two songs [before]. One is called 'Verbal Intercouse,' and the other one never came out."

The RZA has verified his willingness to co-executive produce Nas’ next solo LP with Kanye West.

The Wu-Tang founder was in Hawaii recently with both Nas and Kanye participating in the 2010 Splash Festival. During their time together, the RZA played some vaulted beats that excited Nas about a potential collaboration.

“Respect to Kanye for reaching out to the legendary Hip-Hop producers. Even though he’s a legendary producer himself, he reached back about to the Hip-Hop community and brought a lot of producers and talent in to add energy to his album,” RZA began. “Me and Nas, we didn’t start yet but we talked a lot about it. So I started playing a lot of my beats and Nas was like ‘yo damn, what you doing with all these music?’…We said maybe me and Kanye will come together to produce Nas’ [next] album. If that happens it’ll be real fun.”

To date Nas has only appeared on one released RZA track, 1995’s “Verbal Intercourse” off Raekwon’s heralded Only Built for Cuban Linx II. Nas’ verse is considered one of the best of his career by fans and critics. In 1996, Nas would further cultivate the “Nas Escobar” persona he birthed on that track with his own sophomore album It Was Written.

“If that happens it will be real fun because I think Nas is definitely one of the best emcees to ever touch the mic. I would love to hear Nas on at least five RZA beats,” RZA disclosed. “We did two songs [before]. One is called ‘Verbal Intercouse,’ and the other one never came out.”

The RZA will be joined by Pete Rock, DJ Premier and Madlib as producers on Kanye’s new album. He’s also slated to executive produce GZA’s Liquid Swords II for Fall 2010.

As previously reported, Nas has reached out to Dr. Dre, Swizz Beatz and Alchemist for production. To date, the only producer that’s confirmed completed beats for the album is Bangladesh.
