Whitney Houston Dead at Age 48 [VIDEO]

Whitney Houston, one of most accomplished singers in music history, has died tonight...

Whitney Houston, one of most accomplished singers and recognizable voices in music history, was found dead Saturday (February 11) afternoon.

The news was confirmed by Houston’s publicist Kristen Foster. Houston was found unresponsive and underwater in the bathtub her Beverly Hilton hotel room in Los Angeles.

According to TMZ, Houston was found by entourage members. The state of her body suggested she slid underwater after reportedly being the tub for over an hour. A bodyguard present attempted CPR and she was later pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m.

Although a cause of death has not been disclosed, police have ruled out foul play and stated a detailed search of the room was still pending a search warrant.

Houston was one of music’s biggest stars from the mid 1980s through the late 90s, selling over 55 million albums. Her popularity allowed her to extend to successful films such as The Bodyguard, Waiting to Exhale and The Preacher’s Wife.

The 2000s saw Houston’s career decline behind rampant drug abuse. Her last album was 2009’s platinum-selling I Look to You.
