WASHINGTON, D.C. — Interim WBA heavyweight titlist Luis Ortiz tipped the scales at 242.6 at today’s weigh-in for Saturday’s bout against Tony Thompson. Ortiz’s weight represents the highest weight of his professional career, slightly above his previous high of 242.5 in his ninth fight against Corey Winfield in 2011. Thompson weighed in at 263.8, which is less than a pound above his weight against Malik Scott in October.

Both Sadam Ali and Jesse Vargas were on target for their WBO welterweight title match. The matchup is for the vacant title. The undefeated Ali is fighting for the only the second time in two years after waiting for his title shot. Vargas is seeking to rebound from his first defeat in his last bout to Timoth Bradley.
