MIAMI, FL — Middleweight champion Sergio Martinez is down in Miami for the final weeks of training before he defends his title against Miguel Cotto on June 7.
Martinez, who’s been out of active competition due to nagging knee injures, says the extended rest has poised to close the book on Miguel Cotto’s accomplished career.
“I feel great. The time off has allowed my injuries to properly and fully heal and my entire body has never felt better,” said Martinez. “I know that Cotto is working very hard for this fight with Freddie Roach but there is no doubt in my mind that this will definitely be his farewell fight to what was a great career.”
