Good Friday came early last night courtesy of the first single from Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music compilation. Like this week’s “Thera Flu” track, southern-styled production is again utilized. The beat has an ominous but catchy flavor and incorporates a patios-heavy chorus for some variety from the norm. All the emcees ride the beat well. Even if you’re “2 Chainz’d out” at this point by his oversaturation, his Dirty South roots have him sounding the most natural and comfortable over this beat. Kanye’s verse has a peculiar beat change, but it doesn’t break the atmosphere. Early prediction — the G.O.O.D. Music will be significantly better than both the Young Money and MMG compilations that have dropped over the last year.
