Yesterday, J. Cole launched his inaugural Dreamville Weekend, a three-day event celebrating the city that made him (Fayetteville, North Carolina). Thrusday’s activities featured Cole speaking to youth at his high school (Terry Sanford), receiving a proclamation from the city declaring March 1 “J. Cole Day,” and a late-night party. Through all this, Cole hasn’t forgotten what’s brough him to this point — the music. “Visionz of Home” starts of slow and picks up heavy as the passion of Cole’s words shine through. The driving message? Cole wants to make sure Fayetteville never forgets he’s one of them.
