Times are hard. Former standout West Coast rapper Jayo Felony is back in the news today for all the wrong reasons. Reporters for Fox LA confronted him at his rented residence for allegedly being a foreclosure squatter in Hollywood Hills, California. In classic rapper fashion, Jayo didn’t take it well and launched into a few choice obscenities before speeding off. It should be noted that this is a common scam in states where it takes months to complete the foreclosure process. People will come and squat (set up utilities, etc.) in them until the bank or new owner legally completes an eviction. Or more nefariously, people will pose as landlords and get unsuspecting renters in there.
From what Jayo’s girlfriend explained about them making a $5000 down payment, it sounds like they may be the victims of a fake landlord. If so, he needs to have a long, hard talk with his supposed “homeboy” who “owns” the house. Still, thinking you can rent a house worth over $1.6 million for a $5k down payment should have been a warning sign. The fact they also appear to have been unruly neighbors is likely the reason this got exposed.
For those who don’t remember Jay Felony from the late 90s and early 2000s, peep his biggest song in the second link.
