For the first time in his career, Wale might get some attention from the 40 and older crowd with his new track “Best Night Ever,” which samples Frankie Beverly and Maze’s classic 1989 single “I Can’t Get Over You.” There’s no reason to mess with perfection, so the music is simply looped. You can forget the emcees bringing any of the romance and yearning love heard on the original. Wale’s opening verse starts in the right direction by detailing the emotional scars prevalent in his latest love interest. But Rick Ross remains in his “boss” character as he rhymes on wooing a potential lover with his wealth. Considering the sound of most dance pop sound of most Hip-Hop singles these days , it’ll be interesting to hear how the younger heads receive this track. Wale’s sophomore album Ambition is due out on November 1.
