Floyd Mayweaher briefly broke his Victor Ortiz training this past Labor Day weekend to surprise the Afghanistan-stationed soldiers of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division with a Skype Q&A session. Mayweather fielded  detailed questions about his training regimen, level of competition, Victor Ortiz and eventually fighting Manny Pacquiao. When speaking about Pacquiao, Mayweather made sure to mock his rival by mimicking that he was injecting a syringe into his arm. The below answers are provided courtesy of U.S. Army Major Travis Dettmer and Spc. John Martinez of Boxscore World Sportswire.

On his level of competition since the start of his career.

The competition hasn’t gotten any tougher. The fighters today are not throw-back fighters. Once I get to beating these guys and I take the lead, these guys go into survival mode.

How many times a week do you recommend bag training and running?

It all depends on how your body feels, you got to work according to how your body feels. When I was beating these fighters early on in my career… I trained, but I didn’t train as hard as I train now because, you know, on the plateau that I’m on I know everyone is gunning for me

[Running] at least five times a week… sometimes I run outside, sometimes I run on the treadmill, and when I run on the treadmill, its only uphill.

Tuesday I boxed 12 rounds, so I knew I didn’t want to run when I got home [in order to] let myself recover. I’m in tip-top shape, but basically, you’ve got to know your limits.

On Victor Ortiz.

Ortiz? Ha. Its gonna be easy work -like taking candy from a baby. I’m not worried about him at all, I have a lot of experience and I’ve been places in the sport [boxing] he will [probably] never go in his career.

On fighting Manny Pacquiao.

Poochiao (Manny Pacquiao) don’t want this. You know. He can’t say nothing. He’s getting my left overs. I beat them [Manny’s biggest named conquests] all way before he got to them. What’s he gonna say? I beat them in their prime and when they still had something to give. I got ’em first.
