Canadian emcee Shad has received first single honors for The Real Frequency compilation The New North. The project derives its title from a popular segment featured on the now defunct FLOW 93.5FM radio show The Real Frequency, known as the premier Hip-Hop radio show in the Toronto area. The compilation aims at giving national exposure to Toronto’s best new talent while also giving shine to the vets that have represented the scene.
Shad falls in the veteran category by having released three albums since 2005. On “Flawless,” producer Frank Dukes and DJ Dopey supply Mos Def vocal cuts and lively sax notes for an excellent intro to anyone interested in Hip-Hop north of the border. The Ninja Scroll clips are a nice touch that goes well with the production’s combative tone. The entire album can be previewed after the jump.
