Mayweather-Ortiz Tickets on Sale Today, 24/7 Show Coming in August

I had no interest in Pacquiao-Mosley, but this one I may just come out for. Not that I think Ortiz will win or even make it close, but I do have a hunch we'll see Mayweather put to use the underrated inside game he's shown before against the likes of Ricky Hatton and Jesus Chavez.

Tickets are now available for Floyd Mayweather’s September 17 return against WBC welterweight titlist Victor Ortiz.

The “Star Power” event has garnered significant fan interest following Golden Boy’s official announcement on June 7. Since that date, Mayweather has acquired over 100,000 more Twitter followers in addition to Victor Ortiz trending for the first time worldwide. In addition, both fighters were greeted by lively crowds at their Los Angeles and New York press stops.

HBO will launch the latest installment of their Emmy-winning 24/7 series on August 27 at 10 p.m. ET. Four episodes will air with a finale scheduled for September 16.

Tickets for Mayweather-Ortiz are available through www.ticketmaster.com and priced between $150-$1250. “Star Power” is sponsored by Golden Boy and will be held in Las Vegas at MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Following my last Vegas trip for Mayweather-Mosley, I thought I wouldn’t be back there until Mayweather and Pacquiao squared off. Fast-foward one year and that fight is no closer to reality. I had no interest in Pacquiao-Mosley, but this one I may just come out for. Not that I think Ortiz will win or even make it close, but I do have a hunch we’ll see Mayweather put to use the underrated inside game he’s shown before against the likes of Ricky Hatton and Jesus Chavez. Ironically enough, you can hear Larry Merchant below starting at the :27 mark stating that Chavez is providing the blueprint for how bigger fighter should attack Floyd. Only problem is Mayweather has gotten a lot bigger, too.
