“When I got It Was Written my life changed…”
Lupe Fiasco may have divided the Hip-Hop community by calling President Obama a “terrorist,” but he’ll find considerable more support for his recent statement naming Nas the greatest ever.
While Illmatic is widely viewed as Nas’ magnum opus, Fiasco has always cited the more commercially successful It Was Written as the work that had the most profound effect on him. Great minds think alike, so it’s no surprise that both Fiasco and interviewer Ceelo recite the lyrics to “Take It In Blood” as one of their favorite Nas songs.
Fiasco also gives his opinion on why Hip-Hop culture has failed to produce another Nas or Rakim.
