RENO, NEVADA — Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin needed only three rounds to secure the biggest victory of his career last night (April 29) over contender Jesse Brinkley. Quillin focused his offense around right hand counters. With a minute left in the first, Kid Chocolate stunned Brinkley badly with an overhand right. Brinkley focused on trying to make it an inside fight in round two, but struggled to get back past Quillin’s range. A Quillin right would daze Brinkley again in the third. This time, Quillin followed up with a barrage of power punches to trap Brinkley in a corner and prompt the stoppage from referee Joe Cortez. Quillin remains undefeated, upping his record to 24-0, 18 KOs. Jesse Brinkley (35-7, 22 KOs) suffers his second consecutive knockout following a 9th round stoppage to IBF super middleweight titlist Lucian Bute last October.
