Los Angeles, CA — Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have confirmed the healthy birth of fraternal twins.
The couple made the announcement earlier today to the Associated Press. The children, who the parents have yet to name, were born at 12:07 p.m. in Los Angeles. The girl, born first, weighed in at 5 pounds and 3 ounces. The boy tipped the scales at 5 pounds and 6 ounces.
The twins are the first children for both Cannon, 30, and Carey, 41. The superstar singer previously suffered a miscarriage shortly after the couple wed in 2007. They plan on renewing their vows on May 1.
Before the births, Carey disclosed to the media that she did not plan on having any more children.
At press time, Carey and Cannon plan to raise their family between New York and Los Angeles, were both have homes and business dealings.
