David Haye Plans Early Blitz of Wladmir Klitschko: “I’ve seen him mentally quit.”

"He knows what it's like to be knocked out," Haye explained tonight on ESPN2's Friday Night Fights broadcast. "It's happened to him a couple of times before. I've seen him mentally quit. I'll definitely be bringing out those feelings."

David Haye is certain that rival Wladimir Klitschko will mentally unravel against his planned early fight pressure.

Alluding to Klitschko’s upset KO losses to Corrie Sanders and Lamon Brewster, which happened in rounds two and five respectively, Haye’s goal is to replicate those scenarios by making Klitschko panic.

“He knows what it’s like to be knocked out,” Haye explained tonight on ESPN2’s Friday Night Fights broadcast. “It’s happened to him a couple of times before. I’ve seen him mentally quit. I’ll definitely be bringing out those feelings.”

Haye was adamant that he could not take the patient countering approach he utilized against Audley Harrison and Nikolay Valuev. Because of Wladimir’s Klitschko’s exceptional jab, Haye reasoned that a victory will be dependent on a maintaing a fast pace and keeping Klitschko tentative with big power shots.

“I’ve got to go out there when the first bell rings and put him in an uncomfortable zone. I can’t go out there and let him set up with his jab,” Haye argued. “He’s got a very impressive jab, one of the best in the world. I can’t afford to go out there and be taking those round after round beacuse he breaks people down…I can’t fall into that same trap. I’ll take that jab away and land my trademark hayemakers. [He can control range] against someone who’s slow-footed. I’m very fast, agile and have good timing. I pose problems that he’s never seen before.”

At press time, Haye and Klitschko are targeting June or July for their highly anticipated showdown.
