Prolific Singer Nate Dogg Dead at 41

With over 250 guest spots in his 20 year career, Nate Dogg was the most prolific and sought after guest artist in Hip-Hop history.

The family of famed Long Beach artist Nate Dogg (Nathaniel D. Hale) has confirmed the singer’s death on Tuesday (March 15).

Nate Dogg’s health had been in decline since suffering a stroke in 2007. A second stroke in 2008 left him paralyzed on his left side. In November 2010, Warren G revealed that Nate Dogg was undergoing extensive physical therapy.

“Everybody’s just gotta keep him in their prayers, because he had two strokes and that’s real dangerous,” Warren G explained to HipHollywood. “A lot of people don’t come back from that. Luther Vandross did it, so hopefully Nate can do it. The game needs him. I need him.”

A close friend of both Warren G and Snoop Dogg, the trio started out performing under the moniker 213. Nate’s mellow, street-corner tinged singing style would gain international recognition for his work on Warren G’s classic 1994 single “Regulate.” As a member of Death Row Records, he contributed to many of the label’s classic work such as “Ain’t No Fun,” “Deeez Nuts,” and “All About U.” In the 2000s, he collaborated with Eminem (“Bitch Please II”), The Game (“Where I’m From”), 50 Cent (“21 Questions”) and Pharoahe Monch (“Oh No”). With over 250 guest spots in his 20 year career, Nate Dogg was the most prolific and sought after guest artist in Hip-Hop history.

In addition to his work with other artists, Nate Dogg also recorded three solo albums: G-Funk Classics Vol. 1 & 2 (1998), Music and Me (2001) and Nate Dogg (2004).

Several close friends such as Daz Dillinger have already expressed their condolences on social networks like Twitter. At press time, the family has not disclosed the official cause of death.

Beats, Boxing & Mayhem will update this story as new information becomes available.
