Friday Night Fight Results 2/11/11: Forbes Falls, Decarie Dominates Alvarez

On the back of two knockdowns, Antonin Decarie (25-1, 7 KOs) cruised to a unanimous decision over an outgunned Shamone Alvarez (21-4, 12 KOs).

A gaping, accidental headbutt-induced cut added insult to injury to veteran American Stevie Forbes (35-9, 11 KOs), who lost a technical decision to Jojo Dan (28-1, 15 KOs). Dan used his superior height and reach to make Forbes constantly have to reach for him. Dan was in control when a clash of heads in the sixth tore open Forbes’ left brow. The judges awarded Dan the decision unanimously all by scores of 58-56.

Newcomer Ghislain Maduma (3-0, 1 KOs) used tough but limited Isaac Bejarano (9-9-1, 5 KOs) for target practice in a four round bout. Faced with a much slower and defensively lacking opponent, Maduma landed at will with power punches, particularly hooks and uppercuts. Although there were no knockdowns, the judges recognized Maduma’s dominance with several 10-8 rounds, giving him the win by scores of 40-34 and 40-36 twice.

On the back of two knockdowns, Antonin Decarie (25-1, 7 KOs) cruised to a unanimous decision over an outgunned Shamone Alvarez (21-4, 12 KOs). Decarie was the harder puncher and continually split Alvarez’s defense with straight rights and arching left hooks. In the fifth, Alaverz was dropped on the seat of his pants by a straight right. Alvarez never gave up, and found limited success when he punched in combination and moved laterally. Whenever he lingered, Decarie abused him with power shots. In the eighth, Decarie used the straight to score a balance knockdown. Final scorecards read 97-91, 99-89 and 98-90.

The card took place live from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec.
