Wiz Khalifa gave his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers an extra boost by performing his hit “Black and Yellow” before yesterday’s AFC championship. This isn’t the first time a Hip-Hop song has been adpoted by a football team (The Giants did that with Jim Jones’ “We Fly High” a few years back). But this was still ingenious marketing from Khalifa. With the Steelers being a good team, the chances of them going deep in the playoffs were favorable. As a result, this song is still getting mainstream love months after its release date. The NFL has embraced rappers for commercial spots during their games this year, most notable being Nick Javas and Talib Kweli a few weeks back . It would be great to see young Khalifa get a song placement during the Super Bowl.
