Rah Digga “Straight Spittin’ 4.5” [Produced by Marco Polo]

And yet, just a second full week into 2011, New Jersey's lyrical lioness is back with a new installment of her Straight Spittin' series...

“All the ninjas like ‘peace queen!’/ When I’m straight spittin’…”

In the midst of her promotional campaign for her Classic album back in September, Rah Digga vowed that she would release another project by Spring 2011. After years away from the scene, many were skeptical that she’d get another collection of music ready so soon. And yet, just a second full week into 2011, New Jersey’s lyrical lioness is back with a new installment of her Straight Spittin’ series. Marco Polo hands her some standard boom-bap, and Digga expectedly goes in. This is her zone, and for nearly two minutes she alternates between aa and ab rhymes schemes while incorporating allusions to Nas, Derek Jeter, Caesar, and Sean Bell. The abrupt ending is exactly the quick salvo Digga needs to get appetites ready for  her next album.

Classic was a respectable return after 10 years away from the album game. Expect even better with her next LP.
