Most of the time, people should stay away from trying to remake classics. Occasionally, an artist does justice to a seminal original. You can include Murs and 9th Wonder with the latter, as their remake of Common’s “I Used to Love H.E.R.” is an excellent visual update for modern viewers. I wonder if Murs considered doing all original lyrics and just keeping the chorus. That’s the only downside if you’re looking hard for any. Nonetheless, this is a nice stroll down memory lane. When I ran into Common a few months back, he had a laugh when I told him about Resurrection dropping when I was 12. I also met both 9th and Murs recently, and I can verify all three brothers have good heads on their shoulders.
