Timbaland Donating 100K Xbox 360s & PS3s for Christmas

Producer Timbaland is feeling the holiday spirit, but not in the sense of gifts for his immediate family. This season, the sought-after boardsmith is donating a whooping 100,000 Xboxs and PS3s through his Viriginia-based foundation. Considering the fact that video game systems these days run well over $300, we’re talking millions of dollars in donations and personal money he’ll have to generate to make this a reality.

Timbo has the right idea about charity; it should be done without consideration for how much press and pats on the back you’re going to get. However, media does have a responsibility to seek this info out, and give it the attention it deserves. Hip-Hop culture too often gives off the impression of being a sad caricature due to the stories the press reports. For a second, consider the number of stories you’ve read this year about groupies and other nonsense. So, I salute Timbo’s efforts, and hopefully it inspires others to create their own drives, which could focus on generating books and other necessities for a healthy childhood.

The other interesting bit of information is Timbaland announcing that Timbo Thursdays, his own free weekly music series, will start in January.

Erm .. Timbalanand retweeted this news.

Regardless, if this news is true Timbaland is extremely generous.
