“Picture a rapper slaying L/ No way in hell…”
With all the big releases that dropped this week, Big L’s posthumous Return of the Devil’s Son really flew under the radar. Although pretty much all of L’s verses have been exhausted, it’s always good to hear producers take a shot at re-working his lyrics over new beats. Large Professor’s “Unexpected Flava” sounds straight out of his early 90’s, Main Source era. L’s rhymes here are from circa ’93, so Large Pro’s production choice is highly appropriate. This is the second posthumous project officially endorsed by the late Harlemite’s family, following 2000’s The Big Picture.
