A Detox leak? Scrapped Recovery track? A joint that didn’t make Relapse? For now it’s only speculation, but Rap Basement got a hold of this track new track featuring two Em verses and a finale from the good doctor. It has a nice concept of Eminem giving Dre a good tongue-lashing for staying away from the game for too long. Eminem pleads with his mentor to not only save him, but to save Hip-Hop as well. One major problem is Skylar Grey’s grating chorus, which comes off as a poor man’s version of Rihanna’s work on “Love the Way You Lie.” The rock-infused beat is in line with the rapid-fire, emotional flow that Em has become fond of, but it still comes off as derivative.
I’m sure we’ll be hearing soon where this track came from. Dr. Dre explained “Kush” as a leak they’ll go with since the public likes it. But, he also made it clear the album sounded completely different from it. If “I Need a Doctor” turns out to be the “true sound” of Detox, we may be getting set up for a massive disappointment.
