Too often, emcees use the image of Malcolm X to lend weight to projects the man himself would never have supported. For those who don't know, he was vehemently against narcotics in the black community, and ill-treatment of women. It's even more bold for a group to name themselves after him and Martin Luther King, Jr. But here, the trio are looking to do justice to both men's memory with politically charged music. They hope their moniker is viewed as "a siren call announcing new leaders armed with new tools to fight for modern-day liberation."

Later this month, Reks will be dropping the free mixtape In Between the Lines Volume 2. I don’t think I’ve ever seen mixtape hosted by three different people, but Reks will attempt to be the first with hosts Statik Selektah, Green Lantern, and DJ Ill Will. This song, “Outta Control,” features Strong Arm Steady and Statik Selektah behind the boards. I’m not crazy about the beat, but the emcees come through on the verses. The project’s entire tracklist follows the song links. To get an additional feel for the project, check out “Pray For You (The Homicide Note),” which has some pointed words for emcees like Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame. Funnily enough, he performed this in Atlanta last month at the A3C Festival.
