“The real champion in boxing will fight anybody…” – Manny Pacquiao
A couple of weeks ago, HBO released a teaser trailer of commentator Max Kellerman moderating a face-off with Manny Pacquiao and Freddie Roach against Antonio Margarito and Robert Gracia. That clip ended with a classic one-liner from Roach, telling Margarito that he would be knocked inside of eight rounds because “I’ve seen your last two fights.” Now, HBO has made the full face-off available for our viewing pleasure.
As expected, there were the mandatory questions about Floyd Mayweather, Margarito’s illegal handwraps, and Pacquiao’s steroid rumors. Pacquiao did say that although the Mayweather fight fell through, Margarito and himself have styles that will give the fans an exciting bout. He also took a small jab at Mayweather’s recent bouts by saying fans want to see “a real fight.”
Anyone giving Antonio Margarito a serious shot? I’m sensing that fans, and even some critics, are warming to the idea of the Tijuana Tornado being competitive or possibly scoring an upset. I still don’t see it happening.
