Two months after a well-publicized “We Wants Lasers” petition, fans of Lupe Fiasco have announced an October protest outside Atlantic Record’s NYC offices.
The announcement was made earlier today on Lupe’s popular fansite The LupE.N.D. Blog. Fans who can make it are urged to wear the official “Lasers Uniform” (all-black entire or camouflage pants) and carry pickets signs. Those unable to make it to the NYC area are asked to spread the word virally via Twitter, Facebook and other outlets.
The Lasers album has been in indefinitely shleved due to Atlantic Records and Lupe Fiasco not agreeing on the project’s creative direction. According to Fiasco, the album has been sitting since 2008. Since last year, two potential tracks (“Shining Down,” “I’m Beamin’“) have leaked.
The protest rally will take place on October 15 from noon-9PM. More information on the event will be relased through an official Facebook group and RSVP page. The event is completely free and open to the public.
To date, the “We Want Lasers” petition has generated over 28,000 signatures.
