Heltah Skeltah’s Rock Preps New West Coast-Themed Mixtape

Rock of Heltah Skeltah will pay tribute to the West Coast next month with a new mixtape called Rockin’ Out West.

The collection is a physical CD only release inspired by Rock’s time in Los Angeles. The project serves as a celebration of sorts, as Rock was recently cleared of a two-year attempted murder case in New York. The Rockness Monstah credits that struggle with helping him create meaningful art.

“Rockin Out West is my latest gem. Most diamonds are rocks that form under high-pressure high-temperature conditions but at the end you get something beautiful, something special, a gem,” Rock explained to Beats, Boxing and Mayhem. “That’s all a metaphor for the case I faced over the past two and a half years. The case and the pressure I was under created the climate that gave me the fuel and the fire to do this project. It happened on accident, but then again I don’t really believe in accidents.”  

The project features 28 tracks over classic or West Coast-derived beats and appearances from Kurupt, Ras Kass and Nate Dogg.

Rockin’ Out West hits stores on September 7^th.
