Snoop Dogg Expands Youth Football League to Midwest

"This allows them to see the artist giving back to the community and also introduces them to sports," explained Crystal Brown Black, Windows Opprtunity exectuive director, to the Chicago Sun Times. "Their ability to go onto a field and learn techniques in football is kind of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."

Snoop Dogg’s South Central Los Angeles-based Youth Football League will expand to Chicago this Friday (July 23) with a back to scool event.

Snoop will oversee a football clinic of roughly 200 boys ages 8-14 years old. The move is Snoop’s first attempt to kickstart teams outside his home state of California. Players from the NFL’s Chicago Bears have also signed on to participate.

In addition to the free clinic, Snoop Dogg has confirmed that he will donate school supplies to the 600 children enrolled at Windows of Opportunity, Inc.

“This allows them to see the artist giving back to the community and also introduces them to sports,” explained Crystal Brown Black, Windows Opprtunity exectuive director, to the Chicago Sun Times. “Their ability to go onto a field and learn techniques in football is kind of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

Founded in 2005, Snoop’s league has created teams in Long Beach, Compton, Watts, Los Angeles, Pomona, and Leimert Park. If all goes well, a Chicago team is expeced to join the legaue next year. According to the Sun Times, Snoop has invested an estimated $1.3 million in the league.
