Timothy Bradley Promoter Ready to Make Amir Khan Fight

"Tell him [Amir Khan] he's got the fight. If Khan said he would do the fight, I'm telling you he's got the fight," Shaw told The Boxing Truth Radio. "You can Twitter him back that you spoke with Gary Shaw directly and he's got the fight."

Not a full week removed from Timothy Bradley’s welterweight win over Luis Carlos Abregu, promoter Gary Shaw is ready to ink a junior welterweight unification bout with Amir Khan.

Khan was successful U.S. debut in May by scoring a TKO over Paulie Malignaggi. Afterward, Khan stated his goal was to unify his WBA title with the remaining champions.

On Twitter, Khan stated he was flying to Las Vegas to meet with Golden Boy about the possibility of a Timothy Bradley fight. He explained that Bradley has a style he could exploit, and advised “talk is cheap” regarding Bradley’s post-fight comments last Saturday that he would face Khan.

Bradley’s promoter Gary Shaw was very blunt is his asseessment of Khan’s proclaimations.

“Tell him [Amir Khan] he’s got the fight. If Khan said he would do the fight, I’m telling you he’s got the fight,” Shaw told The Boxing Truth Radio. “You can Twitter him back that you spoke with Gary Shaw directly and he’s got the fight.”

If finalized, a Bradley-Khan fight would be the first step in having the top young talents at junior welterweight face each other. Shaw had intially proposed a 140 tournament in the mold of Showtime’s Super Six 168 pound tournament. But according to Shaw, only his fighter (Bradley) and Don King’s Devon Alexander were willing to sign on. Golden Boy Promotions represents several top 140 pounders in Amir Khan, Victor Ortiz, and Marcos Maidana.

At press time, Golden Boy is waiting for the outcome of Juan Diaz-Juan Manuel Marquez rematch on July 31 before determining Amir Khan’s next opponent.

  1. i was gonna suggest amir fighting bradley the other week, bradley beat junior witter convincingly and witter used to call out hatton and khan all the time… this would be a great match up… i would fancy khan for it though…

ismael, did the witter fight put bradely on the map over there??? it did over here, i remember watching the fight and he was like a billion to 1 underdog over, no one had herd of him in england at the time…

    1. Haha I’m going to have to stay nuetral for now. Bradley-Khan to me is a pick ’em. Tim has a lot heart and workrate like Baynig4sho said, but he doesn’t have a strong punch to really deter Khan. Great fight.

And yeah, I had no idea who Bradley was until the Witter fight. lol I actually expected him to lose, so he really surprised me in how easily he dominated. I watched that fight live.

  2. this is gonna be a great fight.yo water ur seeds i gotta disagree homeboy.khan is a bad dude but id never go against bradley too much heart.
