Big K.R.I.T. Guests on New Tracks from The Roots, Fiend & Teedra Moses

Label mates The Roots enlisted him for a lush, multi-layered groove called "Make My." The dreamy soul arrangements somewhat masks the heavy lyrical content, which has a regretful K.R.I.T. reflecting on a hollow chase for materialism that cost him his soul.

“Feel the pull of the blank canvas…”

Big K.R.I.T. remains hard at work building his resume and buzz heading to the tentative, early 2012 time frame for the release of his Def Jam debut. Label mates The Roots enlisted him for a lush, multi-layered groove called “Make My.” The dreamy soul arrangements somewhat masks the heavy lyrical content, which has a regretful K.R.I.T. reflecting on a hollow chase for materialism that cost him his soul. Black Thought’s verse initially sounds like a tired employee quitting a stressful job. You soon realize it’s a dying man’s thoughts. The final two minutes are straight instrumentation, reminiscent of many of the rare soul compositions of the 70s.

The Roots’ new album undun drops on December 6.

THE ROOTS X BIG KRIT “MAKE MY”

The second track is off Fiend’s new Don Cannon-assisted mixtape Smokin’ Champagne. It’s a very smooth, easy listening song that compliments the vocals of all three. You can download Fiend’s mixtape HERE.
