With Ghost’s new album 12 Reasons to Die now in the stores, the video for the lead take you back to the stylized graininess of 70s horror cinema. The RZA is on hand to provide the intro. The clip is directed by David Wong.

Ghostface Killah – “The Rise of the Ghostface Killah”
Posted: February 14, 2013 in Music NewsTags: 12 Reasons to Die, Adrian Younge, album, download, Ghostface Killah, preview, The RZA
Ghostface Killah, producer Adrian Younge and executive producer The RZA sound like they have a monster project on their hands with 12 Reasons to Die (April 19), if this first single is any indication. The album is purported to be a marriage of three sounds: 36 Chambers era Wu-Tang, Portishead and Ennio Morricone. And add-on to that the auxiliary material:
The album will be available in various configurations including a standard CD, a deluxe double CD with instrumentals and a mini comic book, plus a digital deluxe version with instrumentals and digital comic book, multiple vinyl formats and a cassette. To visually flesh out the dark and gritty world of Twelve Reasons, Soul Temple Records has partnered with Black Mask Studios to produce a 6-issue comic book series and collected graphic novel featuring striking visuals and an intriguing dual-narrative structure with contributions from a host of stellar comic book artists.
Wouldn’t be surprised if this ends up being Ghost’s best project since Fishscale.
Man With the Iron Fists OST – Kanye West “White Dress” & More ft. Ghostface, Pharoahe Monch, M.O.P. & Idle Warship

It’s been awhile since Kanye rhymed over something this straight-forward. If you didn’t know any better, you’d might think this was something left over from the Late Registration to Graduation years. Good to know this Kanye still exists. After that, check out some of the other leaked tracks below featuring Ghostface, M.O.P., Pharoahe Monch and Idle Warship. The rest can be streamed HERE, where you can also purchase the 5 CD limited edition boxset soundtrack.

You know it’s going to be a damn good Wu track when even U-God is getting off. In all seriousness, the Clan is back together for the latest leak off The Man With the Iron Fists soundtrack. The RZA has put together an autographed limited edition of the soundtrack that includes 5 CDs (samples, movie score etc.) that can be pre-ordered HERE. The pre-order includes immediate download of 58 tracks in your choice of MP3 320, FLAC, or other formats.

The RZA’s martial arts epic Man with the Iron Fists won’t hit theaters until November 2, but fans can expect a few gems from the soundtrack over the next two months. Gibbs’ impeccable flow is at home with Meth and StreetLife over Frank Dukes’ guitar-reliant production and the soul stylings of The Revelations.

It’s been a long time coming. The trailer is here for The RZA’s martial arts epic The Man With The Iron Fists. From Lucy Liu sporting a deadly dagger-embedded fan to former WWE star Dave Bautista looking like a golden rendition of the X-man Colossus, the movie looks to be opening night viewing for me. You can bet the Abbott came through with the soundtrack. Rounding out the cast are Pam Grier, Cung Le, Russell Crowe, Byron Mann and Jamie Mann. The Man With the Iron Fists is set to drop on October 26.
Know Your Samples: The Emotions and Wu Tang’s Audio Intercourse

“Oh I love him, but what if he hurts me?”
The Emotions are Hip-Hop royalty. One listen to this female R&B group’s sample classic “Blind Alley” is all one needs to know about how important their music is to Hip-Hop’s history. Producers have found great breaks and melodies from their 10 albums released from 1969-1985. Instead of focusing on their well-known later gold and platinum LPs for Columbia (Flowers, Rejoice, Sunbeam), Wu-Tang’s RZA stayed their sophomore album Untouched, which includes “Blind Alley,” made when they were under Stax and going through a lineup change (original member Jeanette Hutchinson quit after getting married and having a child).
Produced at this time by Isaac Hayes and David Porter, The Emotions hit “I You Think It…” featured a short speaking intro from one of singers reflecting on her love of a man. When she questions the danger of it, she accents the words “what if” with a timbre that’s both shrill and raspy. It catches your attention, as it no doubt caught RZA’s, who made it the foundation for one of the best tracks off the original Cuban Linx, “Verbal Intercourse.” From the womb to the tomb…

The RZA Adds Harder & Introspective Edge to ‘Watch the Throne’
Posted: August 3, 2011 in Music NewsTags: 2011, Jay-Z, Kanye West, new music, The RZA, Watch the Throne
With all the talk of Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch the Throne being avant-garde, some fans can take solace in the fact that experimentation has yielded some reflective lyrics via the duo’s work with the RZA.
In an interview yesterday with Rolling Stone, the RZA explained his intent was to supply The Throne duo with beats that were totally different from the pop sound dominating Hip-Hop. The music he sent was part of the tracks Jay-Z and Kanye worked on while holed up in an Australian mansion, as seen on the “Watch the Throne” documentary.
“I just thought I would send some shit that would be rugged,” The RZA said. “I know they can find the poppy, hip-hop places, but I wanted to send them some real edgy shit. Apparently they thought they were great – Kanye said, ‘Send some more of that Wu shit!’”
At listening session last night at NYC’s Hayden Planetarium, Jay-Z and Kanye West debuted their RZA collaboration “New Day.” The song is addressed to their unborn sons while also tackling feelings of abandonment from their absentee fathers. While RZA is yet to hear the final product, he believes the work will far eclipse any past collaborations done by the group.
“With this project, it’s the best of many worlds,” he said. ”These two guys have a great chemistry and a great relationship. I’m excited.”
Watch the Throne hits stores on August 9.
The RZA ft. Kosha Dillz & Kool G Rap “Operator”
Posted: July 7, 2011 in Music NewsTags: Kool G Rap, Kosha Dillz, The RZA, Wu Tang Clan
For those unaware, The RZA has been steadily dropping unreleased tracks through his informal, Kanye West-inspired “Wu Wednesdays.” When it comes to producers, RZA likely has one of the deepest unreleased vaults in the game. Here’s his breakdown on this latest gem that features Jewish emcee Kosha Dillz and legend Kool G Rap.
Here’s a demo of a song we made about a year and a half ago at my east coast studio ’36 East’. It’s featuring Kosha Dillz, one of the rawest Jewish kids I know proving again that hip-hop comes in all shapes, sizes, forms and races… I thought I’d show him some love. The very special guest featured on this track is one of the illest of all time Kool G Rap.
This song has that southern acoustic blues sound that RZA has favored in recent years. However, that doesn’t stop Dillz or G Rap from attacking the track with vigor. Make sure to follow the Abbott on Twitter @RZA for additional weekly tracks.

Wu-Tang Clan ft. RZA “Only the Rugged Survive”
Posted: May 26, 2011 in Music NewsTags: 2011, Legendary Weapons, new music, The RZA, Wu Tang Clan
“Only the Rugged Survive” is the first single off Wu-Tang’s upcoming album Legendary Weapons. It’s being billed as the follow-up to 2009′s Wu-Tang Chamber Music and will feature Ghostface Killah, RZA, Method Man, Cappadonna, Inspectah Deck and U-God. In addition, the album will have guest production spots from Noah Rubin, Fizzy Womack (Lil Fame of M.O.P.) and Andrew Kelly.
This song is a solo feature for RZA, who retains his usual erratic, off-beat flow. Noah Rubin handles the boards with a sound that’s in accordance with what Wu fans expect. Legendary Weapons hits stores on June 28.
